Located in the heart of Providence’s college hill/ fox point neighborhood this three story, 1810 colonial house underwent a full remodel with the aim to restore the building to its original use as a single family home. Local architect and designer, JP Couture of Couture Design Associates devised a plan to renovate from the top down so the owner could live in one unit and rent out the other while construction was underway. It took 5 years and several phases of construction, but Dennis Brothers LLC completed the project with care and sophistication. Included in the scope of the project was the addition of a dormer to the rear of the house to make more usable living space on the third floor which now serves as a guest room and full bath. The second floor was transformed into a fabulous master suite complete with a gorgeous bath, dressing area and office. White marble slabs and tile, pine floors to match what remained of the original floors, antique salvaged mantles, and sleek fixtures give the house a refined presence. On the first floor, the two bedrooms were opened up into a great living room that now has access to the backyard through french doors. The first floor kitchen was totally gutted, unearthing the remains of an original beehive oven which now is exposed as the backdrop to a stainless steel stove with soapstone countertops and concealed appliances.
